In the Desert, Freedom Is Reborn

“One does not live by bread alone.” (Matthew 4:4)

Peoples of the world,

In the beginning, God formed the human being from dust and breathed into him the breath of life. You are dust inhabited by breath. You are fragility visited by eternity.

God planted a garden — a place of harmony. But in the middle stood freedom. For love cannot be imposed: it must be chosen.

The serpent whispers: “Did God really say…?” He does not deny God — he questions His goodness.

The hand reaches out. Humanity wants to decide good and evil alone. Eyes are opened — but not to light. To shame. Fear enters. Death begins to reign.

War is born from this gesture: when humanity wants to be god without loving as God loves.

But another man enters another place: not a garden, but a desert. Forty days. Silence. Hunger.

“If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.”

Jesus answers: “One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

You have multiplied bread, but forgotten the Word. You have fed bodies and starved souls.

Temptation returns: power, spectacle, domination.

How many peaces have been sold for a throne? How many consciences have bowed for advantage?

But Jesus says: “Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him alone.”

Through the obedience of one, many are made righteous. Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.

In the desert, freedom is reborn. In the refusal of pride, peace begins.

Inner reset phrase:
I no longer bow to power: I choose the fidelity that makes me free.

Then the tempter withdraws. Then angels draw near. And peace — fragile yet real — begins to serve humanity.
