🕊️ The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph — December 28, 2025

The family, the first school of peace

“Joseph did as the angel of the Lord commanded him.” (Matthew 1:24)

Peoples of the world,

on this day when the Church contemplates the Holy Family, a simple and decisive truth stands before us: the peace of the world begins in a home.

Not in palaces, not in agreements signed far from tears, but in the quiet place where one learns to love without conditions.

The family is not first a social structure. It is a school of the heart.

It is there that a child learns whether he is awaited or merely tolerated. It is there that adults discover whether they can love without possessing. It is there that life practices patience, forgiveness repeated, and silent self-giving.

Jesus did not come to save the world by escaping family life. He entered it. He grew within it. He allowed himself to be formed by it.

In the house of Nazareth there was no power, no glory, no wealth. There was daily faithfulness, humble work, respect for rhythms, and shared trust.

Mary carried life. Joseph protected it. Jesus learned how to receive.

This is how peace is woven: when each person accepts their place without crushing the place of another.

Families are wounded when they cease to be places of gift and become fields of domination. They grow fragile when fear replaces listening. They fracture when love becomes conditional.

Yet even wounded, families can become paths of peace again. For peace is not born of perfect families, but of families willing to heal.

When a parent chooses presence over escape. When a child is seen as a gift, not a burden. When words are chosen over violent silence. When forgiveness is attempted, even clumsily.

Then something realigns.

Peoples of the world, if you desire peace among nations, relearn peace within homes. For one does not learn to respect humanity without having been respected somewhere.

The family is the first frontier of peace. If it collapses, the world hardens. If it rises again, hope breathes anew.

“Where love is transmitted without condition, peace learns how to live.”
